Inger Ward
DesignationI’m Inger Ward, a passionate Community Builder with Befriend Inc based in Kwinana where I have lived for more than 50 years, with a strong belief that it’s people who truly make a place. When we come together, share our stories and spend time in each other’s company, we create connection, belonging and a sense of home that goes far beyond bricks and mortar.
I’m deeply inspired by the spaces around us, both indoors and out. From the quiet wonders of nature to the spark of curious minds coming together, I see endless opportunities for connection, creativity and shared experience. Whether it’s through art, conversation, culture or simply being present, I love creating spaces where people feel welcome to explore not only their own interests but also those of others.
Through my work with community groups and initiatives like Kaleido, I embrace the richness that comes from cultural diversity and shared experiences. I believe that by learning from one another, appreciating our differences and finding common ground, we all become a little more connected and a lot more enriched.

DesignationProudly Malaysian with Ceylonese and Mangalorean South Indian roots, now calling Australia home with my husband and two children. I hold a Master’s in Hospitality & Tourism – so it’s no surprise I love bringing people together through hosting, community, and home-cooked meals. When I’m not in the kitchen or connecting with others, you’ll find me reading, crafting, or enjoying board game nights with family.
Huda Rashid
DesignationI am from a CALD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) community. I was born in Kuwait to parents originally from Pakistan, lived in Kenya after marriage, and migrated to Australia 20 years ago with my three children. Alhamdulillah, they are now well grown and settled.
I have been living in Kwinana for the past 12 years and actively involved in the multicultural community for the last 11 years. Community involvement is very close to my heart. Coming from a diverse background and living in different countries has taught me the value of respect, inclusion, and cultural understanding.
I am passionate about bringing people together, sharing my culture, learning from others, and supporting a welcoming and connected community where diversity is respected and celebrated.
Lubaina Najmuddin
DesignationOriginally from India, Lubaina is passionate about celebrating cultural diversity and building connections within the community. Fluent in around seven languages, she has a deep appreciation for different cultures, traditions, and perspectives.
As a community volunteer, small business owner, and advocate for inclusion, Lubaina enjoys bringing people together through local initiatives, events, and community projects. She believes that diversity is one of our greatest strengths and that meaningful connections are built through understanding, respect, and shared experiences.
Through her involvement with Kaleido, Lubaina hopes to help create a welcoming space where people from all backgrounds can connect, learn from one another, and celebrate the rich cultural diversity of our community.
Nasim Salakjani
DesignationNasim Salakjani is a member of the Kwinana Multicultural Group, contributing wherever she can to support a more inclusive, connected, and culturally vibrant community. She is passionate about creating spaces where people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) backgrounds feel seen, heard, and valued.
Nasim is a strong advocate for equal opportunities and fair treatment for all, and is committed to supporting inclusive communities where diversity is respected and celebrated. She is always willing to step into any role that helps strengthen community connection and foster a sense of belonging.
She is a graduate of the Auspire Multicultural Leadership Program, which has further strengthened her commitment to inclusive leadership and community impact. Nasim also brings a broad range of experience from her work as a councillor, coach, and host of the radio program Weaving Cultures, where she amplifies the voices and stories of multicultural communities.
With a PhD in engineering and a professional background as a process engineer, she combines analytical thinking with a deep commitment to people and community development.
Jazz
DesignationMy name is Jasalina Mason, I was born in Singapore. For the last 40 years I have called Australia home. I am blessed with three adult children and seven grandkids. After I called Australia home in 1988, I completed my education to achieve skills in the field of counselling. Specialising in abuse and resolving conflict. I’ve utilised my learnings in the nursing field for 35 years. I also ran my own counselling practise for around 10 years. I am known as Magnetic Jazz, because others are naturally drawn to me as a positive influence. I am constantly present, reliable, committed and generous in spirit. I approach life with a conviction and care for community. I bring a strong sense of responsibility to everything I undertake. I welcome challenges and differing perspectives with a depth of understanding and always willing to speak up on behalf of others.
Jacob Solomon
DesignationJacob Solomon is a passionate community advocate, volunteer leader and proud Kwinana resident who has lived in Wellard since 2014. Dedicated to creating an inclusive and connected community, Jacob was recognised as the 2021 Kwinana Citizen of the Year and received the Golden Star Award from Transdev Australasia for outstanding customer service.
He serves as a Street Chaplain, Regional Director for Y’s Men International, Board Member of Wellard Primary School, Vice President of Healing International, ISWA Council Member, Australia-New Zealand Zonal Member (MTC), and is actively involved in Kwinana’s multicultural community networks.
Jacob has helped lead and support numerous community initiatives, including Celebrate Culture Kwinana, Clean Up Australia campaigns, community planting days, food and blood donation drives, charity projects and the Kwinana Leaders Forum.
As a member of the Kwinana Kaleido Collective, Jacob is committed to celebrating cultural diversity, strengthening community connections and encouraging active participation. Through his leadership and volunteer service, he continues to create opportunities for people from all backgrounds to connect, contribute and take pride in the vibrant Kwinana community.
Lynn Coomer
DesignationProudly calling Kwinana home, Lynn Coomer is a highly respected community leader whose generosity, wisdom and tireless commitment to bringing people together has touched the lives of countless people across our city.
Lynn has dedicated many years to strengthening connections between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal communities through cultural sharing, storytelling, education and reconciliation. She is passionate about ensuring culture is celebrated, respected and passed on to future generations, while creating welcoming spaces where everyone feels they belong.
Lynn’s outstanding contribution to the Kwinana community has been recognised through her receiving the City of Kwinana Community Person of the Year (Citizen of the Year) honour. She has also received numerous acknowledgements and commendations throughout the years for her volunteer service, leadership and unwavering commitment to community wellbeing. Her voice is regularly sought at civic and community events, including National Reconciliation Week celebrations, where she has spoken about the importance of unity, respect and celebrating the rich diversity that makes Kwinana such a special place.
Whether mentoring others, advocating for Aboriginal culture, supporting local initiatives or simply taking the time to listen, Lynn leads with kindness, humility and authenticity. She embodies the spirit of community, reminding us all that meaningful relationships are built through understanding, respect and walking alongside one another.
